Join Celtic Chords

Only ever sung in the car/shower before? Don’t worry! We would love you to join us. We are all learning together & receive regular training, both from our Musical Director and from other Vocal coaches who come to help us be “the best that we can be”.

You are welcome to come along on any Monday evening to listen & to see if you would like to join us.

What is special about Celtic Chords?

Celtic Chords is a ladies barbershop chorus and we are members of the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singing (LABBS). As well as being ladies who sing together, we also support each other through the good and bad times of life. If you join Celtic Chords you get more than simply the joy of singing, you get new friends!

Currently, we have 21 members of all ages and all voices from (very) high to (very) low. Barbershop arrangements require some ladies (our “basses”) to be able to reach notes which are much lower than is usual in most ladies choral arrangements. If you have such a voice & would love to sing, you could find a home with us!

Why you will love barbershop singing!

Barbershop is an unaccompanied style of singing made unique by it’s four part harmony. The tune is sung by the Leads, the Tenor harmonises above the tune, the Basses sing the lowest notes and the Baritones fill in the gaps!

Not sure what part you would sing? Don’t worry!

Many of us did not know what vocal part we would be when we started. So when you join us, we can work this out together! One way we do this is by teaching you each part of a simple song. One of our favourites is “how much is my doggy in the window?” (and yes, there are fun actions too!). We will all sing this together and you can see which part your voice suited best. There is no pressure to choose the perfect part straight away! And maybe you will even start in one part and then move to another. We are very flexible because we want you to have the best experience possible once you join us!

Join us and enjoy a free six week taster period!
Whatever your vocal range or ability, all newcomers can be assured of a warm welcome. The first 6 weeks are free of charge, to allow you to sample the Barbershop style of singing and to see if we are the kind of group you would enjoy being a part of.
Accessibility of our rehearsal space

Our rehearsal space has free parking right outside the building, an outdoor ramp and an accessible toilet.
